Oracle GoldenGate 19c introduces a modern Microservices Architecture (MA) designed for secure, scalable, and high-performance real-time data replication. Before configuring deployments or replication paths, the first step is to install the GoldenGate 19c Microservices software on the server.

This guide covers only the software installation phase, using the GoldenGate installer GUI.

The Microservices edition of Oracle GoldenGate consists of:

  • Admin Service
  • Receiver Service
  • Distribution Service
  • Metrics Service
  • Service Manager

Before setting up these components, the software binaries must first be installed into a dedicated GoldenGate Home (OGG Home).

This article explains how to complete that installation step-by-step.

Preparing for Installation

Prerequisites

Before starting the installation, confirm the following:

✔ Oracle Database 19c installed and running
✔ OS user oracle with correct permissions
✔ Required directories created (e.g., /u01/app/oracle/ogg)
✔ Java installed (if required for UI components)

Launching the GoldenGate Installer

Run the installer from the extracted GoldenGate software directory:

<Software_downlord>/fbo_ggs_Linux_x64_services_shiphome/Disk1
./runInstaller

Installation Wizard

Step 1: Select Installation Option

Choose GoldenGate build for Oracle Database 19c.

The Oracle GoldenGate software installation is a straightforward five-step process that requires only two inputs from the administrator. In the first step, you simply select the Oracle Database version you are using (11g, 12c, 18c, or 19c). The database may reside on the same server as GoldenGate or on a remote system.

Step 2: Specify Installation Details

Enter the GoldenGate software installation path:

You need to specify the installation directory, referred to as the GoldenGate home (<GG_HOME>). This location can be defined using the OGG_HOME environment variable, and once configured, you can verify it with the following operating system command

export $OGG_HOME

Click Next to continue.

Step 3: Review Installation Summary

Verify all installation parameters:

Click Install.

Step 4: Installation Completed Successfully

Once the installation finishes:

The installation takes less then a minute. When it has finished, you can close the installer.

What’s Next?

After completing the software installation, the next phase would be:

  • Creating Certificates
  • Running the Oracle GoldenGate Configuration Assistant (oggca)
  • Creating the Service Manager
  • Creating a GoldenGate deployment
  • Setting up ports, directories, schemas, and security

These steps are part of GoldenGate configuration, not software installation.

If you want the next blog on Creating Certificates, I can prepare it as well.

Conclusion

You have now completed the Oracle GoldenGate 19c Microservices Architecture software installation. This lays the foundation for configuring modern, secure, and flexible real-time data replication environments.

The next step is to Creating Certificates for Goldengate.
